A project proposal created for my Graphic Design I course at MassArt. The project would be a set of vending machine/kiosks around a city where people could go up to them and get a blank postcard with a prompt on it. They would fill out the postcard and drop it off at a drop box and it would be sent to someone anonymously and you’d get one from that person in return! The name of the project is a_noun. A play on the word anonymous and also the idea that these letters are physical items, unique and individual—nouns.

There are three types of prompts...
a_sketch would ask you to draw something or track and visualize something in your life (like a little data visualization of the foods you ate in a week or something)
a_list would ask for something like to share a favorite recipe, a list of your favorite albums, a to-do list for the person who receives the letter to do.
a_story would prompt people to share stories, poems, etc about their life. Perhaps the cover of anonymity would allow people to share things they otherwise wouldn’t.
The logo is an abstracted version of the word "noun." Each shape represents an individual. There is only color where they overlap, symbolizing the artfulness and importance of sharing and connecting. Each color represents one of the three types of postcard.

Examples of secondary logos and the typefaces used.

Rough draft of what the kiosk would look like. The design is made up of circles and lines, the same elements that make up the logo. Click the button below to see the wireframe of the kiosk sign up process.
The drop box is essentially the negative shape of the kiosk itself.
The project would be advertized via posters and bus ads. They would be simple, each with a unique prompt so that when passersby would see many and begin to understand that this project is about telling stories and connecting on a personal level.
